(P) Chalk by Bill Thomson
Chalk is a wordless book. The book starts about with a picture of three friends on a rainy day. There is a dinosaur holding a bag and in the bag there are all different colors of chalk. One little girl draws a sun on the ground and then the sun popped out of the ground and into the sky. The boy then draws a dinosaur on the ground, and low and behold a dinosaur popped out of the ground. The children were scared and hid in the playground. In the playground the boy drew a raincloud and rain coming out of it and it started to rain. The dinosaur was washed away by the rain and all that was left of a green smear. The children put all the chalk back into the bag, and put it back in the mouth of the fake dinosaur that was holding the bag. The children then walk away in the rain. I likes these wordless books because they can be interpreted into so many different stories.

(P) Flotsam By David Wiesner
The book starts out with a picture of a young boy digging on the beach. He finds a sand crab in the sand. The boy examines the crab with a magnifying glass. He gets bored with the sand crab, and found a crab on the beach. He looks at the crab and when he is looking at him gets hit with a huge wave. He is on the ground after the wave and spots something in the sand now. He brings the item back to his parents and it reads Melville Underwater Camera. He finds film in the camera and gets it developed at a local store. He looks at the pictures. The pictures were crazy and make believe pictures. The last picture was a picture of a girl holding a picture of a boy, holding a picture of another boy, and then holding another picture of a child and so on a so forth. This confuses the boy, and he has to really examine the picture. He uses the microscope to examine the pictures of children holding other pictures of children. After looking at the one picture with a bunch of children holding pictures of other children holding pictures, and decided to hold the picture and take a picture of it. He throws the camera back into the open and different sea animals hold the camera and take it places. The camera goes through a little city of mermaids that are riding fish, and then a bird gets a hold of it. The last page is a girl finding the camera on another beach.

Frogs in a pond lift off with their lily pads and fly to a nearby town. There they zoom through a woman’s living room as she dozes in a chair watching television, harass a dog frolicking in his yard, and distract a bathrobes citizen from his midnight snack. The unpredictable events of this particular Tuesday unfold before the reader with the precision and clarity of a silent movie.

This book starts out with a picture of a rooster close up. Then the rooster gets farther and farther away. It zooms out to a barnyard and then a city,. Then you find a child playing with the barn set and then you find that it is a picture in a magazine. The person is holding the magazine, on a boat, on a picture on the side of the bus. The bus was on the TV that a cowboy was watching in Arizona,. This picture was then on a stamp that a person from the helicopter was looking at. The book then ends as it zooms out on the Earth until it is just a tiny little star. .
